Smuggler arrested; police seize 518 grams of smack worth Rs 1 crore in Muzaffarnagar

Muzaffarnagar (UP), July 10 (PTI) Police have arrested a smuggler and recovered 518 grams of smack, valued at over Rs 1 crore, from him in the Babri police station area of Shamli district, officials said on Friday. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sumit Shukla told reporters that, acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a motorcyclist, Mursaleen, during a routine check. A search revealed 518 grams of smack, valued at more than Rs 1 crore in the international market, he said. The ASP said the accused was active in supplying narcotics from Bareilly to various districts in western UP, including Saharanpur, Shamli, and Muzaffarnagar. Police said Mursaleen is a notorious criminal with 18 prior cases registered against him for drug smuggling, robbery, and attempted murder.
