New Delhi, Jul 15 (PTI) A suspected shooter linked to the Harry Boxer-Lawrence Bishnoi gang has been arrested in connection with an extortion case involving a Rs 5-crore demand and multiple firing incidents targeting a businessman, Delhi Police sources said on Wednesday. The accused, identified as Jagdish alias Jack, was arrested from Malda in West Bengal, while one of his associates Vikas was earlier apprehended from Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh, the source said. According to the source, the case stems from a complaint filed by a resident of Delhi's Chhawla area who claimed he received a call from a foreign-based number on January 12, 2025. The caller allegedly identified himself as gangster Harry Boxer, an associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and threatened him, asking him to tell one of his friends -- a businessman -- to pay up Rs 5 crore or face serious consequences. Eight days later, unidentified assailants fired three rounds outside a gym linked to the businessman. "The following day, the complainant's brother received a call, in which the caller -- once again identifying himself as Harry Boxer -- claimed responsibility for the firing," the source said. Police registered a case in this connection and launched an investigation. On June 26 this year, another firing incident was reported, with several rounds allegedly fired at the residence of the said businessman. Soon after the incident, the businessman allegedly received a call in which the caller, saying he was Harry Boxer, claimed responsibility for the attack. Subsequently, based on technical surveillance and human intelligence, the police arrested Vikas from Mainpuri in connection with the alleged extortion bid, the source said. Vikas' interrogation led investigators to Jagdish's whereabouts. A police team travelled to West Bengal and after a seven-day operation spanning four states and covering nearly 2,500 km, arrested Jagdish near Kamla Bari railway gate in Malda, they said. Jagdish was produced before a court in Malda and brought to Delhi on a two-day transit remand for further interrogation, the source added. PTI BM ARB ARB
