Ramnagar-Dehradun train to run from July 18: BJP MP Anil Baluni

New Delhi, Jul 14 (PTI) BJP MP Anil Baluni on Tuesday said a train service from Ramnagar to Dehradun is set to commence from July 18 in Uttarakhand, and expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for this. He said this train service will greatly facilitate travel for local residents commuting to Dehradun for work. It will also provide a direct and convenient rail connectivity for the tourists visiting Corbett National Park, the Garhwal MP added. Baluni said that in the initial phase, this train will operate two days a week. Depending on passenger numbers and demand, efforts will be made in the future to increase its operation to four or five days a week, he added. "Dear friends, I am overjoyed to share this delightful news with all of you. As a result of sustained efforts over a long period, a direct train service between Ramnagar and Dehradun is set to commence on July 18," Baluni, who is also BJP chief spokesperson, said in a post on X. "I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji for his continuous efforts to make the lives of fellow citizens more convenient, and to the honourable Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw ji, who has always accorded priority to Uttarakhand's rail projects and services," he added. Baluni said the residents of Ramnagar, also known as Corbett City, have long been demanding a direct rail service to Dehradun. "I extend my best wishes to the residents of the Ramnagar region, as they are about to receive this double dose of good news. Prior to this, the Dhanaghari Bridge has also been dedicated for the convenience of the general public," he said. This new rail service will prove "immensely beneficial", not only for the local people but also for tourists and pilgrims from across the country and abroad who visit Uttarakhand, the BJP leader added.
