Rajasthan: Leopard rescued near Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve

Jaipur, Jul 18 (PTI) A leopard was rescued from the Phalodi area near the Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve after repeated sightings triggered concern among local residents, forest officials said on Saturday. The rescue operation was carried out on Friday night as part of an ongoing monitoring and patrolling exercise launched by the forest department following reports of leopard movement in the area. Officials said teams had been maintaining round-the-clock surveillance and conducting intensive patrolling over the last few days to ensure the safety of villagers and prevent any untoward incidents. The animal was safely captured in a carefully planned operation involving tracking and coordination among field staff. "The rescue was conducted using a scientific approach with due caution and patience, ensuring the safety of both the animal and the local population," an official said. Assistant Conservator of Forests Ajay, Range Officer Raj Bahadur and other forest staff members who took part in the operation said the rescue would help reduce the risk of human-wildlife conflict in the area.
