Raish lashes parts of Uttar Pradesh; IMD forecasts more showers

Lucknow, Jul 5 (PTI) Rains lashed parts of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting more showers, thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places across the state over the next 24 hours. The IMD said rain and thundershowers are very likely at isolated places across Uttar Pradesh, with thunderstorms accompanied by lightning also likely at isolated locations. For Lucknow and adjoining areas, the weather office has forecast a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of thundery development. According to the Met office, Muzaffarnagar recorded 9 mm of rainfall till 5.30 pm, Prayagraj and Varanasi Airport registered 8.8 mm each, Meerut 7 mm, Azamgarh 6.8 mm, Etawah and Churk 2 mm each, Varanasi BHU 1.8 mm, Ghazipur and Shahjahanpur 1.2 mm each, and Gorakhpur saw 0.7 mm of rainfall. The weather office further said that the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 38 degrees Celsius and 29 degrees Celsius, respectively, while thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are very likely at isolated places. Lucknow remained hot and humid despite the weather activity, recording a maximum temperature of 39 degrees Celsius, 4.1 degrees above normal, and a minimum of 30.2 degrees Celsius, 4.2 degrees above normal.
