Raichandani, Virk make fifties as India U19 reach 186/0 on Day 2 vs SL U19

Galle, Jul 14 (PTI) Openers Lakshya Raichandani and Sagar Virk made unbeaten 93 and 87 respectively as India U19 reached a strong 186 for no loss against Sri Lanka U19 on Day 2 of the first Youth Test here on Tuesday. India now trail by 238 runs after the home side declared their first innings at 424 for nine. Sri Lanka’s big first innings total meant that India needed a firm start, and Raichandani along with Virk did just that. Raichandani carried the bat till the end of the day on 93 made off 136 balls, and the knock contained 10 fours and two sixes. Virk, on the other hand, was more sedate, bringing his 87 off 215 balls with 12 fours. Earlier, SL started from overnight 344 for four with Senuja Wekunagoda batting on 203 and Chamika Heenatigala on 33. Wekunagoda got out in the first session itself for 233 (267b, 33x4, 1x6), cleaned up by off-spinner Jeganathan Hemuchudeshan (3/107), India’s most successful bowler on the day.
