Jamshedpur, Jul 11 (PTI) Two persons were arrested from Jharkhand's East Singhbhum district for allegedly duping a Punjab-based man of over Rs 3 lakh via an online transaction, police said on Saturday.
Based on a complaint lodged by the resident of Patiala four days ago, a police team apprehended the two accused after evidence was collected from various sources, including the police technical cell, Jamshedpur City Superintendent of Police Lalit Meena said.
"The accused had committed a crime by sending a link to the man and duped him of Rs 3.08 lakh. Smartphones of the accused have been seized. Both of them are residents of Khairbani Bakisol area under the Dumaria Police Station limits," he said.
The police also seized their PAN, Aadhaar and ATM cards, bank passbooks and transaction details.
The two accused disclosed the involvement of one person of Dhahigora under the Ghatsila Police Station limits in the fraudulent activity, the SP said, adding that efforts are being made to arrest the third accused.
The arrests were made after Cyber Police Station, Bistupur, had registered a case with the Dumaria PS of East Singhbhum district on Thursday, he said.
The man lodged the complaint on the 'Pratibimb' app of the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal three days ago, and accordingly, a police team headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Musabani) Rohit Kumar Rajwar was constituted to investigate the matter. PTI BS BDC
