Amaravati, July 13 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually dedicate the redeveloped Mangalagiri Railway Station to the nation on July 17.
Mangalagiri Railway Station, a Non-Suburban Grade category station under Guntur Division, has been redeveloped for Rs 12.5 crore with upgraded passenger amenities and modern infrastructure, a press release said on Monday.
The redevelopment is aimed at improving passenger safety, accessibility and travel experience, it added.
"As part of the Government of India's transformative Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the redeveloped Mangalagiri Railway Station under Guntur Division will be dedicated to the nation by PM Modi through a virtual inauguration on July 17," it said.
The redevelopment works include the comprehensive renovation of the existing station building and the construction of a modern second-entry station building with a booking office, waiting halls and a VIP lounge.
The project will feature an aesthetically enhanced station facade, a spacious entrance porch, upgraded waiting halls, modern toilets, improved platform surfacing, durable seating, standardised passenger signage and extensive landscaping.
To ensure seamless accessibility for all passengers, the station has been equipped with two lifts and accessible facilities, including tactile pathways, ramps and accessible toilets, the press release said.
New platform shelters have been provided on Platforms 1 and 4, while the front and rear circulating areas have been redeveloped with dedicated parking, pedestrian pathways, street lighting, lane markings and landscaping.
Access control measures, including boundary walls and wider entry and exit gates, have been put in place to ensure smooth passenger movement.
The inauguration of the redeveloped station marks another milestone in the modernisation of railway infrastructure under the ABSS, the release said.
It added that the project reflects Indian Railways' commitment to enhancing passenger comfort, accessibility and operational efficiency while preserving the unique identity of railway stations. PTI MS ADB SSK
