Srinagar, Jul 11 (PTI) All India Mahila Congress chief Alka Lamba urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday to break his silence over the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya and provide answers to people.
Addressing a press conference here, Lamba also said the Congress demands a Supreme Court monitored probe into the alleged irregularities.
"We demand an independent judicial inquiry under the Supreme Court's supervision. Also, Prime Minister Modi should break his silence and give answers to the country and Ram bhakts," she said.
The Congress leader demanded the immediate arrest of those involved in the "embezzlement" of Ram temple donations, so that evidence is not destroyed.
"We have been informed that evidence, including CCTV footage, has been destroyed. So they should be arrested soon. Otherwise, they will destroy all the evidence," she claimed.
Lamba also called for an immediate dissolution of the Shri Ramjanmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust that looks after the affairs of the Ram temple.
"We hold the double-engine government of the BJP responsible for the theft," she said.
