Planting saplings alone not enough, nurturing them equally important: Jayant Chaudhary

Baghpat (UP), Jul 12 (PTI) Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary on Sunday called for turning environmental conservation into a mass movement, saying that merely planting saplings is not enough and their protection and nurturing are equally important. Chaudhary planted a sapling during an event organised under the 'Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam' campaign at Baba Shahmal Stadium in Baraut and urged people to plant more trees and pledge to look after them. The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'LiFE' (Lifestyle for Environment) initiative has gained global recognition, with the United Nations also praising the initiative and passing a resolution regarding environmental conservation. Chaudhary said that when people's emotions become connected to a campaign, it naturally evolves into a mass movement. He described the 'Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam' campaign as a powerful medium for uniting nature, family and society. He urged citizens to plant as many saplings as possible and to take responsibility for their protection.
