One arrested in Bihar's Munger for suspected links to international terror network

Munger (Bihar), Jul 7 (PTI) Bihar Police have arrested a person from Tarapur area of Munger district for suspected links to an international terror network, a senior officer said on Tuesday. The arrested person has been identified as Mohammad Saddam, a resident of Tarapur area. Police said the accused, along with two associates, was allegedly planning to carry out terrorist activities in the country. Police also seized a country-made pistol and a mobile phone from his possession. Speaking to reporters, Tarapur Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Kumar Devendra, said, "Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Mohammad Saddam from Tarapur area on Monday evening. Preliminary investigations suggest that he was part of an international network and, along with two associates, was reportedly planning to carry out terrorist activities in the country. It is suspected that he was in contact with a cross-border network linked to an individual known as 'Rana Bhai'." The arrested accused had been staying in Mumbai and later returned to Munger, the SDPO said. "He is being interrogated by the officials of other security agencies as well. His mobile phone is being forensically examined. His call records are also being analysed. A manhunt has also been launched to nab his other associates," the SDPO added. PTI COR PKD ACD
