Bhubaneswar, Jul 15 (PTI) A revenue inspector was arrested on Wednesday while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 for submitting a favourable report in a land mutation case, an Odisha vigilance department official said.
According to the complainant, the accused had demanded the bribe for submitting a favourable enquiry report in a mutation case and facilitating the issuance of a record of right of his ancestral land in his favour.
It was alleged that even though the application was made online following the rules and the requisite fees were deposited, the revenue inspector of Sirijhuli circle in Rayagada district was delaying the process and demanding a bribe of Rs 25,000.
Based on the complaint, vigilance officials nabbed the accused and launched searches at three locations to detect possible disproportionate assets. PTI BBM BBM NSD
