Minor ragpicker drowns in canal in Odisha''s Kendrapara

Kendrapara, Jul 7 (PTI) A 14-year-old ragpicker drowned after reportedly slipping into a canal while collecting plastic bottles in Odisha’s Kendrapara district, police said. The incident took place around 3.30 pm at Kajala locality on Thursday. The boy was pulled out of the canal about 30 minutes later and taken to the district headquarters hospital in Kendrapara, where doctors declared him dead, a police officer said. "The deceased has not yet been identified. The body has been sent to the district headquarters hospital mortuary for postmortem examination," said Suvendu Sahoo, inspector-in-charge of Kendrapara town police station.
