New Delhi, Jul 8 (PTI) A minor collision between two vehicles escalated into a scuffle inside the Dwarka Expressway tunnel after one of the drivers allegedly attempted to assault the other with a stick, police said on Wednesday. The incident was reported to the police control room in southwest Delhi at 7.44 pm on Tuesday. The caller alleged that his car brushed against a taxi inside the tunnel, following which the taxi driver allegedly tried to attack him with a stick. The caller told police that when he pushed the taxi driver in self-defence, he allegedly fell onto an SUV, causing minor damage to the vehicle. The SUV owner then stopped the caller and sought compensation for the damage, while the taxi driver fled the scene. "PCR personnel who reached the spot found that the taxi driver had already escaped. The caller and the SUV owner resolved the issue amicably at the spot, and no one sustained any injuries in the incident," a senior police officer said. He said a Kapashera Police team visited the location but found neither damaged vehicles nor injured persons. During a telephonic conversation, the caller told police that he had returned home, the matter was settled mutually, and he did not wish to initiate legal proceedings. Police said efforts are underway to identify the taxi driver. CCTV footage from the Dwarka Expressway tunnel and nearby areas is being examined to establish the sequence of events and ascertain the taxi driver's identity, they said. Meanwhile, a purported video of the incident, showing the taxi driver trying to hit the man with a stick even as he tries to save himself, has gone viral. PTI BM BM RUK RUK
