Man taken into custody over alleged suicide of female friend in Kerala's Adoor

Pathanamthitta(Kerala), Jul 14 (PTI) A 31-year-old man has been taken into custody in connection with the alleged suicide of his female friend at her residence near Adoor here a day ago, police said on Tuesday. A senior police officer of the district said that the arrest of the man -- Arun -- will be recorded soon and he will booked for the offence of abetment of suicide. The officer said that according to the postmortem report, it is a case of suicide. Giving details in connection with the incident, he said that the 29-year-old woman, Shehana, had a child and was separated from her husband for the last six years. "She has filed for divorce from him," the officer said. Arun, and the woman have been friends for the last 12 years and he used to frequently visit her at her home after she separated from her husband, police said. On Monday, there was an argument between the two after which she took the extreme step, the officer said. PTI HMP SA
