Chandrapur, Jul 17 (PTI) A man who was summoned to a police station in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district on Friday for questioning in a drug case arrived after allegedly consuming poison and died while being treated at a hospital, an official said.
The official said Dilip Yadav (48) was called for questioning at City police station in connection with the seizure of marijuana after one of the arrested accused allegedly named him.
"Yadav arrived at the police station and soon began vomiting. He was taken to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where doctors diagnosed that he had consumed poison," Superintendent of Police Ayush Nopani said.
He did not consume poison at the police station as all his movements on the premises were captured on CCTV, the SP asserted.
Yadav died at GMCH in the evening, the SP said, adding a probe was underway into the incident. PTI COR BNM
