Man 'beaten' to death over land dispute in Jharkhand's Chatra

Chatra, Jul 7 (PTI) A 40-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death with sticks by his close relatives over a land-related dispute in Jharkhand's Chatra district on Tuesday, police said. The incident took place in Datmi village under Hunterganj police station limits around 5 am. The victim has been identified as Kailash Yadav, a resident of the same village. Yadav was attacked while he was ploughing the disputed plot, they said. "The victim had been embroiled in a dispute with his brother over an agricultural plot. He was attacked by his relatives this morning while ploughing the disputed land. The police have detained one person in this connection, and the identification of the others is underway," Hunterganj police station officer-in-charge Prabhat Kumar said. He said the victim was beaten to death with sticks. His body has been sent for post-mortem examination at Sadar Hospital, Chatra. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
