Man arrested for raping minor in UP's Bulandshahr

Bulandshahr (UP) Jul 17 (PTI) A man was arrested after an encounter for allegedly kidnapping and raping a minor in the Gulawathi area here, officials said on Friday. The accused, Aamir, had allegedly kidnapped the six-year-old girl on Thursday and was arrested the same day, they said. A police team rushed to the spot after receiving a tip-off on Thursday night that the accused was standing near Nathugari Gate with a motorcycle, planning to flee, Sikandrabad Circle Officer (CO) Deepak Kumar said. Upon seeing the police, he attempted to flee on his motorcycle. Finding the road blocked and realising he was surrounded, he allegedly opened fire at the police team with the intent to kill, Kumar said. In self-defence, the police team returned fire, injuring the accused in the leg, the CO said, adding that he was subsequently captured and admitted to a hospital.
