Mumbai, Jul 19 (PTI) The Maharashtra government has permitted licensed hotels, restaurants and bars across the state to remain open till 4 am on Monday to facilitate screening of the FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and Spain, according to an official order. The Home Department issued the directive on Saturday following a request from National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI), Mumbai, which sought extension of operating hours for hospitality establishments on the night of the final. The order, issued under Maharashtra Police Act, said the relaxation would be applicable only for the FIFA World Cup final and only to licensed hotels, restaurants and bars. The government directed establishments to deploy adequate private security personnel to prevent traffic congestion and maintain law and order in and around their premises. It warned that any untoward incident or violation of law would attract action against the establishment under the relevant legal provisions. The order also asked establishments to comply with all licence conditions and directions issued by the Excise Department and local authorities. It clarified that the extended timings would not apply to any establishments other than licensed hotels, restaurants and bars. District administrations and police have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the order, while all establishments have been instructed to cease operations immediately after 4 am.
