Kerala minister Bindhu Krishna seeks Centre’s support for women, child welfare schemes

Kochi, Jul 8 (PTI) Kerala Minister Bindhu Krishna on Wednesday said she had sought the Centre’s support for strengthening women and child welfare initiatives in the state during a meeting with Union Minister Annapurna Devi. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the BRICS Women Ministerial Meeting being hosted in Kochi. In a Facebook post, Bindhu Krishna said that she, along with the special secretary and director of the Kerala women and child development department, discussed key issues concerning the sector in Kerala. The discussions covered centrally sponsored schemes, pending funds, measures to strengthen ongoing initiatives, and financial assistance for implementing various projects in the state more effectively, the state women and child development minister said. Krishna said a memorandum outlining Kerala’s priorities, requirements, and issues related to projects and central funding had been submitted to the union minister. “Had a fruitful meeting with Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi. We discussed key issues concerning the sector in Kerala, including Centrally Sponsored Schemes, pending funds, and measures to strengthen ongoing initiatives,” Krishna said in the post. PTI TBA SSK
