Latehar, Jul 10 (PTI) A 25-year-old woman was arrested on Friday for allegedly hacking an elderly man to death with an axe over suspicion of practising sorcery in Jharkhand’s Latehar district, police said. The incident took place in Gurtur village under Balumath police station limits. The victim was identified as Keshav Ram (65), a resident of the same village. “Prima facie, it appears that the accused, 25, hacked the man to death on Friday over suspicion of practising sorcery. We have arrested her and recovered the axe used in the murder,” Balumath police station officer in-charge Amrendra Kumar Singh said. He said the woman has confessed to the crime during interrogation. The accused told police officers that she suspected the man to be practising sorcery, which caused her father's death, Singh said. The body was sent to Sadar Hospital, Latehar, for post-mortem examination. Further investigation is underway. PTI CORR RPS RBT
