New Delhi, Jul 14 (PTI) Three suspected drug traffickers have been arrested and 26 kg of cannabis seized after police busted an interstate narcotics syndicate operating in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and the national capital, an officer said on Tuesday.
"Acting on the tip-off, a team laid a trap near Pochanpur in Dwarka on June 4 and intercepted a car around 10.40 pm. The driver allegedly tried to speed away before attempting to flee on foot but was overpowered after a brief chase," a senior police officer said.
Police said Rahul Kumar alias Tutan (33) of Delhi, Pamulapati Srinivas alias Anna (56) of Andhra Pradesh, and Pratinidhi Karad (53), an alleged supplier from Odisha have been arrested.
A search led to the recovery of 25 packets containing 26.35 kg of the contraband.
During interrogation, Rahul disclosed that he had procured the consignment from Srinivas, who was subsequently traced and arrested from Delhi. Further questioning of the two accused led investigators to Karad, who was apprehended during a follow-up operation in Odisha.
Police said the arrests enabled them to dismantle an interstate supply chain allegedly involved in transporting cannabis from Odisha and Andhra Pradesh to Delhi-NCR. PTI BM BM SKY SKY
