New Delhi, Jul 10 (PTI) An interstate gang of four alleged robbers, who followed and targeted people withdrawing cash from banks, was arrested for a daylight robbery in central Delhi's Paharganj, police said on Friday.
Police have also recovered the entire stolen cash of Rs 50,000 and the motorcycle used in the crime.
The robbery took place on July 8 after the victim withdrew Rs 1 lakh from a bank at Jhandewalan. As he was returning home, motorcycle-borne men intercepted him near Anarkali Bazaar Extension and robbed him of Rs 50,000 before fleeing, police said.
An FIR was registered at Paharganj police station, following which a team analysed CCTV footage. The four accused -- Mohammad Musaid (41), Mohammad Said (33), Mohammad Maroof (54) and Tanjeel Ahmed (59), all residents of Uttar Pradesh -- were apprehended from a hotel room on the same day.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to targeting people carrying cash after bank withdrawals by following them from banks and robbing them at isolated locations.
