Bhubaneswar, Jul 12 (PTI) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday said thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and rainfall are expected to lash several parts of Odisha during the next four days.
The IMD's Bhubaneswar centre bulletin said heavy rainfall would occur over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Rayagada on Monday.
Similarly, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind is expected to occur in some places of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh districts on Monday.
Besides, the daytime weather would be hot and humid in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh districts on July 13, it said.
The IMD has issued a "yellow warning" (be aware) for the above districts. Similar rainy weather conditions are expected to occur in the state for another three days, it said.
During this year's monsoon season, till Sunday, the state has received an average cumulative rainfall of 348.1 mm, which is 8 per cent over the normal average rainfall of 323.6 mm rainfall, the IMD said.
Only three districts—Sonepur, Boudh and Kandhamal have received a large excess rainfall, while seven districts recorded deficit rainfall. Seven other districts received excess downpour, and it was normal in the remaining 13 districts, it said. PTI BBM BBM RG
