Jamshedpur, Jul 9 (PTI) Two IFS officers visited the CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML) here as part of the mid-career training programme, an official statement said on Thursday.
The officers are Deputy High Commissioner at the Indian High Commission in Nairobi Sushil Prasad, and Counsellor at the Indian High Commission in London, Md Shahid Alam.
They were accompanied by the district mining officer and officials from the district industries centres of East Singhbhum and West Singhbhum districts during Wednesday's visit, the statement said.
During the visit, they interacted with CSIR-NML director Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury and heads of departments, who gave an overview of the laboratory's research capabilities, ongoing R&D programmes and contributions to the minerals, metals and materials sectors.
The delegation also visited key research facilities, including the Creep Testing Laboratory, Hot Dip Process Simulator (HDPS) Laboratory, Urban Ore Recycling Centre and the Magnesium Metal Production and Distillation Facility, where they were briefed on advanced technologies and ongoing research activities.
The visiting officers appreciated CSIR-NML's research, infrastructure and its role in supporting industrial innovation and sustainable development, the statement said.
The visit provided a platform for knowledge exchange and concluded on an interactive and mutually beneficial note, it added. PTI BS MNB
