Himachal: Inspector heading police orchestra suspended for social media earnings

Shimla, Jul 13 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh Police has suspended an inspector, the lead artiste of the popular police orchestra ‘Harmony of the Pines’, for allegedly earning money from social media platforms without informing the authorities, officials said on Monday. DGP Ashok Tewari also ordered a department inquiry into the matter by a DSP-rank officer, which will submit a report within three months, the officials said. Inspector Vijay Kumar, a singer and head of the state police orchestra, allegedly earned around Rs 6,000 from social media in violation of the Central Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, sources said. Kumar has more than 1 lakh followers on Instagram, and over 50,000 on Facebook. PTI COR ARI
