Jaipur, Jul 8 (PTI) The southwest monsoon remained active in Rajasthan on Wednesday, drenching several districts with Kota's Ramganj Mandi recording the state's highest rainfall of 10 cm, and the IMD warning of more showers over the next two-three days.
The meteorological department said that under the influence of a well-marked low-pressure area over northwestern Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Uttar Pradesh, widespread rainfall activity is likely to continue across Rajasthan for the next two to three days.
Ramganj Mandi recorded 10 cm of rainfall, followed by Nithuwa in Dungarpur and Badi Sadri in Chittorgarh with 9 cm each. Kathumar in Alwar and Ajmer received 8 cm each, while several other places recorded less than 8 cm during the 24-hour period ending Wednesday morning.
Between Wednesday morning and evening, Dabok in Udaipur received 22.9 mm of rain, Alwar recorded 19.8 mm and Pratapgarh 5.5 mm.
The IMD said isolated places in Udaipur, Kota and adjoining areas of southeastern and eastern Rajasthan are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on Thursday. Moderate to heavy rain is also expected in parts of the Jaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions.
Despite the widespread rain, Jaisalmer was the hottest place in the state at 41.6 degrees Celsius. Maximum temperatures elsewhere ranged from 28.1 degrees Celsius in Mount Abu to 40.5 degrees Celsius in Sriganganagar.
Heavy rainfall activity is expected to reduce across most parts of the state from July 10. From July 11, rainfall is likely to decline significantly, with only isolated light showers expected over northern and eastern Rajasthan, while the rest of the state is likely to witness mainly dry weather.
