Gurugram, Jul 13 (PTI) A BJP-nominated councillor was arrested in Nuh district in connection with the suicide case of a man, who died over a property dispute, police said on Monday.
The accused, Krishna Saini, was arrested on July 11 and produced before a court in Nuh, which then sent him to judicial custody, they said.
The case stems from the alleged suicide of Sohanlal Saini, a resident of Saini Mohalla in ward-3, Ferozpur Jhirka town.
According to the police, Sohanlal allegedly died by suicide by consuming a poisonous substance amid a property dispute with his family.
His son Himanshu filed a complaint against six individuals, including his relatives, who were booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, including abetment to suicide.
Himanshu claimed that his father Sohanlal was embroiled in a dispute with his three aunts -- Savita, Pushpa, and Sunita -- all residents of Tijara, Rajasthan, and his paternal uncle.
He claimed that they were demanding a share in the property and cash from his father.
When Sohanlal refused to concede to their demands, the relatives, along with Krishna Saini and Harsh, arrived at his house on June 1 and assaulted Sohanlal and threatened to kill him.
Distressed by the incident, Sohanlal allegedly left behind a suicide note and a video. The next day, he was found unconscious in a field under Gopalgarh police station limits in Rajasthan's Deeg district, police said.
He passed away near Ambedkar Chowk in Ferozepur Jhirka town in Faridabad while being taken to a hospital, they said.
The police then booked Savita, Pushpa, Sunita, Praveen, Krishna Saini, and Harsh after a complaint by Himanshu.
So far, only Krishna Saini has been arrested, while the search for the other accused is underway, police said.
Krishna Saini's brother, Lalit, however, dismissed the allegations, claiming that his brother was being framed as part of a conspiracy.
He demanded an impartial and high-level inquiry into the matter.
"The named accused Krishna Saini was arrested on July 11 and produced in court, from where he was sent into judicial custody. Efforts to arrest the other accused are ongoing", said Inspector Kuldeep Singh, SHO of City Police Station, Ferozepur Jhirka. PTI COR KSI KSI
