Four killed, 2 injured as lorry hits bus in Bengal

Kolkata, Jul 16 (PTI) Four people were killed and two others injured after a speeding lorry rammed into a bus in West Bengal's Purba Medinipur district on Thursday, police said. The accident took place on the Digha-Nandakumar road at 2.30 am near Heria in Contai subdivision when the goods vehicle hit the stationary bus, a senior officer said. The Digha-bound bus had developed a mechanical fault and was being repaired on the roadside when the accident occurred, a police officer said. The bus fell into a roadside water body after the lorry struck it, he said. "Four people died on the spot, while two injured were admitted to a nearby hospital," the officer added. PTI BSM BDC
