Jamshedpur, Jul 7 (PTI) Five more people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Karni Sena leader Himanshu Singh here, taking the total number of people detained to 10, a police officer said on Tuesday.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up to investigate the case had earlier arrested five people, including three minors.
Senior Superintendent of Police, East Singhbhum, Ehtesham Waquarib, on Tuesday told a press conference that the five people arrested included Niraj Singh, owner of a bar and also convenor of BJP Jharkhand's Trade cell and bar manager Vijay Mahanand.
On June 28 late night, Himanshu Singh and Pratiyush Singh were allegedly dragged out of a police patrolling vehicle and brutally attacked with lethal weapons in the presence of policemen in front of the bar following a brawl allegedly over eve-teasing incident.
Both the injured were rushed to Tata Main Hospital here, where Himanshu succumbed on June 29 night.
Meanwhile, four police personnel, including the station in-charge of Bistupur police station Alok Kumar Dubey, were suspended following the incident.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren had also removed the Senior Superintendent of Police (East Singhbhum) Piyush Pandey and Superintendent of Police (Seraikela-Kharswan) Nidhi Dwivedi for failing to check criminal activities in their respective districts.
Police had also announced a reward of Rs two lakhs for providing information about absconding prime accused Vishwanath Lohra alias Bodra. PTI BS RG
