Lakhimpur Kheri (UP), Jul 14 (PTI) Farmers planting paddy in a village here were left terrified on Monday, when they spotted a large python, about 15 to 16 feet long, in a field.
Harried farmers of Phulwariya village informed the officials of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve (DTR), following which Najrunnisha, a forest motivator in Dudhwa tiger conservation foundation (DTCF) and her team rushed to the field and rescued the python.
Phulwariya village is located close to Pallia forest range near Dudhwa national park.
"After rescuing the large python, they released it back into its natural habitat of Dudhwa forests," Najrunnisha told PTI.
Field Director of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve Dr H Rajamohan told PTI that during monsoon, python and other snakes sneak into neighbouring farms due to waterlogging in parts of the forest in search of prey.
"When such cases come to notice, the reptiles are rescued and released back into their natural habitat," he said. PTI COR NAV SKY SKY
