Mumbai, Jul 17 (PTI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday directed officials to conduct a comprehensive survey of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) for policy formulation.
Chairing a review meeting of the Industries Department, Fadnavis said the state should frame comprehensive policies for sectors with high investment and employment potential.
According to an official release, the chief minister said industry policies should be prepared after consultations with experts and successful entrepreneurs.
Calling MSMEs the largest source of employment, the chief minister said the survey should assess the current status of enterprises, their production capacity, existing employment and potential for job creation.
He also stressed the need to adopt new technologies and create platforms to enhance the productivity and employment generation capacity of MSMEs.
The CM directed officials to incorporate provisions for convention centres in the proposed 'media and arena policy' to improve ease of doing business and facilitate their development in major cities. He also asked that the proposed chemicals policy include chemical parks.
He also directed that all industrial approvals be routed through the state's 'MAITRI' portal, and asked officials to ensure prompt grievance redressal through the platform.
A call centre could be set up for investors and entrepreneurs with AI-based analysis of recorded calls to identify recurring issues, Fadnavis suggested. PTI MR KRK
