Drunk security guard falls into Thane drain, rescued by emergency responders

Thane, Jul 15 (PTI) A 44-year-old security guard who fell into a drain in an inebriated state in Thane on Wednesday was rescued by emergency services, a civic official said. The incident occurred around noon near the Wool Research Association near Brahmand, according to Yasin Tadvi, chief of the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation. The man, identified as Kiran Chiragmasih Valmiki, was heavily intoxicated when he fell into a drain and became trapped in the muck in the channel. Upon receiving the alert, a rescue team comprising RDMC staffers, fire department personnel, Kapurbawdi police officials and medical workers rushed to the site, Tadvi said. The emergency responders safely pulled Valmiki out of the drain. “Fortunately, he did not sustain any injuries in the incident,” he added. PTI COR NR
