Don't use force again, it would backfire: Kejriwal tells Centre

New Delhi, Jul 22 (PTI) AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday appealed to the Centre not to take any action against students protesting near Jantar Mantar, saying any "misadventure" would prove "counterproductive". In a video message on X, Kejriwal claimed that security had been tightened around the protest site and alleged that internet services had been suspended in some nearby areas. "My appeal to the central government is that it should not undertake any such misadventure," he added. Referring to reports of a possible police action, he appealed to the central government not to crack down on students who, according to him, are protesting peacefully. Kejriwal alleged that earlier attempts to weaken the agitation had failed and claimed that removing activist Sonam Wangchuk from the protest site did not end the movement and that the use of tear gas against students had instead led to the protests gaining momentum.
