DIG S Raja Nagendran takes charge as Coast Guard Commander for Lakshadweep

Kochi, Jun 22 (PTI) Deputy Inspector General S Raja Nagendran on Monday assumed charge as Commander of the Indian Coast Guard Lakshadweep District, succeeding Commandant Shiv Shankar Singh, the Defence spokesperson said. According to a statement by the Defence Spokesperson, Nagendran took over the responsibility at the Coast Guard district headquarters overseeing operations in the Lakshadweep region. An alumnus of the Indian Naval Academy, he joined the Indian Coast Guard on January 5, 1998. During his career, he has undergone several specialised courses, including the Group Testing Officer course and the International Anti-Terrorism Programme (IATP) in the United States, the statement said. In a career spanning over two decades, Nagendran has served in a number of key sea-going and shore-based assignments. His prominent appointments include commanding the Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel ICGS Sajag, the Fast Patrol Vessel ICGS Aadesh, and the Interceptor Boats C-145 and C-147. He has also served at Coast Guard Stations Karaikal and Mandapam and as Chairman of the Coast Guard Selection Board at the Coast Guard Headquarters in New Delhi, the spokesperson said. Nagendran is a recipient of the Director General Indian Coast Guard Commendation for his service. On assuming charge, he affirmed his commitment to further strengthening maritime safety and security in the strategically important Lakshadweep Islands, the release said. PTI TBA TBA ROH
