New Delhi, Jul 13 (PTI) Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 38.6 degrees Celsius on Monday, 3.1 notches above normal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The city's base weather station at Safdarjung recorded the maximum temperature at 38.6 degrees Celsius. In comparison, Palam logged 38 degrees Celsius, Lodhi Road 38.1 degrees Celsius, Ridge 37.4 degrees Celsius and Ayanagar 37.7 degrees Celsius, the IMD said.
The weather department has forecast a partly cloudy sky on Tuesday, with maximum and minimum temperatures expected to settle around 36 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively.
On Sunday, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 36.8 degrees Celsius.
No rainfall was recorded at any of these stations between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm, or during the preceding 24 hours ending at 8.30 am.
Further, Delhi's 24-hour average air quality remained 'poor' on Monday at 4 pm, with the average Air Quality Index (AQI) hovering at 246, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
As per CPCB standards, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 to 100 'satisfactory', 101 to 200 'moderate', 201 to 300 'poor', 301 to 400 'very poor', and 401 to 500 'severe'.
Earlier in the day, the minimum temperature at Safdarjung settled at 29.1 degrees Celsius, 1.8 notches above normal. Palam recorded a minimum of 26.8 degrees Celsius, Lodhi Road 28.2 degrees Celsius, Ridge 24.3 degrees Celsius and Ayanagar 28.5 degrees Celsius, according to the IMD. PTI VBH APL APL
