New Delhi, Jul 6 (PTI) Delhi government is preparing a new cooperative policy tailored to the capital's requirements and is working to establish multi-purpose societies offering services in banking, transport and other sectors, Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh said on Monday.
Singh also said the digitisation of the Registrar Cooperative Societies (RCS) office would ensure transparent, simplified and online services for cooperative institutions.
He made the remarks while addressing the closing ceremony of 'Cooperation Week-2026', organised by the Registrar Cooperative Societies at the NDMC Convention Centre to mark five years of the Union Ministry of Cooperation.
"A new cooperative policy is being prepared in accordance with Delhi's specific requirements and efforts are underway to establish multi-purpose cooperative societies to integrate services such as banking, transport, public services, Common Service Centres and other citizen-centric facilities under the cooperative framework," the minister said.
MP Bansuri Swaraj said the initiatives taken by the Union Ministry of Cooperation over the past five years have strengthened the cooperative movement across the country.
She said cooperative institutions are playing an important role in empowering farmers, dairy producers, fishermen, small traders and other sections of society while contributing to the vision of a developed India.
During the programme, various cooperative institutions, office-bearers and employees were felicitated for their contributions to the cooperative sector. PTI SHB AMJ AMJ
