Dharashiv, Jul 14 (PTI) Over a week after the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raided a trading company in Dharashiv district for allegedly selling milk powder to dairies in violation of rules, the number of accused in the case has gone up to six and none of them has been arrested so far, police said.
Police found during the probe that the trading company owner, who is still on the run, allegedly purchased milk powder worth Rs 4.69 crore in the previous financial year, an official of Dharashiv police said.
An offence was registered last week at the Bhum police station in Dharashiv against Madhuban Trading Company owner Balasaheb Godge for illegally selling milk powder to dairies, an official said.
The FDA raided the premises on July 7 and inspected the bills of the trading company, he said.
Talking to PTI, Shriganesh Kangude, in-charge of the Bhum police station, said, "The number of accused in the case has now reached six and no one has been arrested so far. We have formed a four-member probe team to nab the accused in this case with a non-bailable section." "We are investigating the case and have gone through the transactions so far. In the past financial year (April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026) he has allegedly purchased milk powder worth Rs 4.69 crore and sold it," he said.
Investigation into the case was underway, he said, adding that to whom the milk powder was sold was being confirmed. PTI AW NP
