College student dies by suicide after jumping into Sankey Tank in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Jul 7 (PTI) A 20-year-old college student allegedly died by suicide by jumping into the Sankey Tank here, police said on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Teju, a resident of Chikkabanavara, they said. Her body was found floating in the lake on Tuesday morning after local residents alerted the police. According to police, the student had come alone to Sankey Tank on Monday night and allegedly jumped into the water. Citing preliminary investigation, a senior police officer said that relationship-related personal issues may have led her to resort to the extreme step. Personnel from the Sadashivanagar Police Station recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. Police said they are examining her call detail records (CDR) and mobile phone messages as part of the probe to ascertain the exact cause behind her death. PTI AMP SA
