CM Naidu, Jagan condole S Janaki’s demise; call her ‘unparalleled’ voice of Indian music

Amaravati, Jul 11 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday expressed condolences over the passing of legendary playback singer S Janaki. She died at a private hospital in Mysuru due to age-related ailments, family sources said. She was 88 years old. "Deeply saddened by the passing of veteran playback singer Janaki Amma, the beloved Nightingale of South India. A daughter of Telugu soil, she built an unparalleled musical legacy spanning over six decades, touching generations with her timeless voice," Naidu said in a post on X. Naidu said her immense contribution to Indian music would be cherished forever, and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to her family, fans and the music fraternity. Jagan expressed profound grief over the demise of the legendary singer, describing her passing as an "irreparable loss" to Indian music. He said Janaki had captivated millions with her extraordinary voice and made an indelible contribution to South Indian cinema through thousands of memorable songs in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi and several other languages. The former CM said her timeless songs and rich musical legacy would continue to inspire generations, and prayed for her soul to rest in peace, while conveying his heartfelt condolences to her bereaved family, admirers and music lovers across the country.
