Bhilai, Jul 11 (PTI) A 24-year-old man was arrested for allegedly murdering a woman in Bhilai in Chhattisgarh's Durg district for rejecting his advances, a police official said on Saturday.
Accused Lakeshwar Sahu alias Pintu, a resident of Balodabazar district, was arrested within 24 hours of the crime by Vaishali Nagar police and Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit (ACCU), he added.
"Khushi Sahu was found in a pool of blood in her rented room around noon on Friday after her roommate alerted her family. She was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared her dead. A murder case was then registered at Vaishali Nagar police station," the official said.
Pintu was obsessed with the victim and, after she refused to communicate with him, travelled from Raipur to Bhilai with a sharp-edged weapon to carry out the attack, the official said.
He allegedly strangled the woman following an altercation and then inflicted multiple blows with the weapon, killing her.
"To evade detection, he wore multiple layers of clothing and later threw the clothes and shoes into a river. The murder weapon and the motorcycle allegedly used in the crime have been seized. He has confessed to the crime," the official said. PTI COR BNM
