Chandigarh: 2 injured after being hit by Mercedes

Chandigarh, Jul 12 (PTI) Two youths were injured after being hit by an allegedly rashly driven Mercedes car at the backside of a nightclub here, police said on Sunday. The police seized CCTV footage and began an investigation, while many passersby recorded the incident on their mobile phones. The footage has also gone viral on social media. The police launched an investigation after the incident took place in Sector 26 on the evening of July 11, they said, adding that the driver fled the scene with his vehicle. According to the sources, the driver has been identified. The police immediately reached the spot after the incident and took both injured youths, who are Chandigarh residents, to a hospital, they said. In the purported viral video, a Mercedes without a registration number suddenly zips past a road where many people are standing on either side. The vehicle is seen reversing and knocking down a person before leaving the spot. There is commotion in the area and some youths are seen picking up stones in a bid to hurl them at the fleeing vehicle to stop it. PTI SUN SHS
