CAQM finds 62 violations of pollution norms across NCR industries, C&D sites from Jun 14-30

New Delhi, Jul 6 (PTI) Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) inspections at construction and demolition (C&D) sites and industrial units across the national capital region between June 14 and June 30 have flagged 62 violations of pollution control norms, officials said on Monday. The CAQM Enforcement Task Force (ETF), at its 134th meeting on Monday, reviewed reports from 173 inspections and enforcement actions carried out across NCR during the period. Flying squads carried out 15 inspections across C&D sites, 91 inspections in industrial clusters and 67 inspections related to diesel generator sets. A total of 62 violations were reported, including seven from C&D sites, 31 from industrial units and 24 in diesel generator sets. "The ETF also reviewed actions taken pursuant to the 133rd meeting and noted that all actionable cases pertaining to industrial sector, construction and demolition sector, and diesel generator sets have been acted upon by the concerned agencies," an official said. A total of seven resumption orders have been issued after verification of compliance, which pertain to C&D sites. State-wise, two resumption orders have been issued in Uttar Pradesh and five in Haryana. During the meeting, the CAQM reiterated the need for robust enforcement, strengthened inter-agency coordination and strict adherence to prescribed environmental norms to ensure abatement of air pollution across NCR.
