Cancer patient shoots himself dead in Lucknow

Lucknow, Jul 14 (PTI) A 47-year-old cancer patient shot himself dead at his house here in Itaunja area on Tuesday, police said. Anurag Pandey, a resident of Ashok Road in Nagar Panchayat Itaunja, was depressed over his illness. "According to preliminary information and statements of family members, the deceased had been undergoing treatment for cancer for a considerable period and was mentally distressed due to his illness, following which he took the extreme step," the police said in a statement. Pandey's body was sent to the King George's Medical University (KGMU) mortuary for a post-mortem. "Further legal action will be taken on the basis of the post-mortem report, forensic examination and other evidence," the statement said. PTI KIS VN VN
