Boxer Nikhat Zareen meets Telangana DGP

Hyderabad, Jul 14 (PTI) Telangana DGP C V Anand congratulated star boxer Nikhat Zareen on her achievements and lauded her remarkable contribution to Indian boxing. Nikhat, a DSP with Telangana Police, paid a courtesy call on Anand at the DGP office here on Monday, an official release said on Tuesday. The DGP noted that through her outstanding performances at the international level, Nikhat has brought immense pride to Telangana and the nation. Anand expressed confidence that Nikhat would continue to excel in national and international competitions and bring greater laurels to Telangana, the country and the Telangana Police Department. He encouraged her to pursue excellence with the same determination and commitment that have defined her sporting career. Sharing his own experiences as a sportsperson, the DGP emphasised that success in sports demands unwavering discipline, dedication, physical fitness and mental resilience. He advised Nikhat to remain focused on her goals, continue striving for excellence and serve as an inspiration to young athletes. He also expressed hope that she would successfully balance her responsibilities as a police officer while continuing to achieve excellence in international boxing. Expressing her gratitude, Nikhat thanked the Telangana government and the state Police Department for recognising her sporting achievements by appointing her as a Deputy Superintendent of Police. She said she would always remain grateful for the honour and trust reposed in her. She further stated that she considers the appointment a great responsibility and reaffirmed her commitment to winning many more medals for India while bringing further glory to Telangana and the Telangana Police through her future achievements in international boxing, the release added.
