Bihar: Prashant Kishor holds door-to-door campaign ahead of Bankipur bypoll

Patna, Jul 8 (PTI) Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor, who is all set to make his electoral debut in the bypoll to the Bankipur assembly seat of Bihar, undertook a door-to-door campaign in the area on Wednesday. The former poll strategist, who had been on a state-wide 'pada yatra' before launching the party in 2024, marched on foot across different localities of the assembly seat in the state capital, where he promised to solve the problems faced by the people. When journalists asked him about the BJP, which seeks to retain the seat vacated by its national president Nitin Nabin, fielding low-key youth wing leader Abhishek Kumar, Kishor sought to make light of the matter. "Every party has a right to contest elections. Which candidate to field is their internal matter", said the 47-year-old leader, who has been claiming that the bypoll was a "referendum" on the popularity of the BJP-led government in the state headed by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. In the course of his pada yatra, Kishor visited Jakkanpur locality where locals were staging a demonstration in protest against a recent kidnapping incident. By the time Kishor reached the spot, the protesters had been chased away by the police, but the Jan Suraaj Party founder met them and promised to take up their cause. “People are protesting here because a youth was abducted three days ago. The police had assured us that the case would be solved in two days. I have urged protestors not to block the road, and assured them that I will come back here if the case is not solved within the stipulated time,” Kishor told reporters. PTI SUK NAC BDC
