Patna, Jul 8 (PTI) The Bihar government on Wednesday approved the preparation of feasibility and detailed project reports for a proposed Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) connecting Patna with Muzaffarpur, Begusarai, Arrah and Gaya.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.
The cabinet approved an expenditure of Rs 31.59 crore for preparing the Alternative Analysis Report (AAR) and the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the four proposed corridors.
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), which implements the RRTS in Delhi-NCR, has been nominated to prepare the reports.
Announcing the decision on social media, Choudhary said the project aims to develop a modern, rapid and efficient public transport system that will strengthen regional connectivity and accelerate economic and urban development in Bihar.
Besides the transport project, the cabinet approved the formation of the Bihar Aquaculture Infrastructure and Development Corporation Limited (BAIDCL) to develop and manage fisheries and aquaculture infrastructure in the state, officials said.
The proposed corporation will focus on creating infrastructure such as fish hatcheries, farms, feed mills, cold chains, ice plants, fish markets and processing units, while also facilitating implementation of large projects, including those under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, they said.
The cabinet also cleared the acquisition of 26.76 acres of land at Musallahpur in Danapur for the expansion of AIIMS-Patna. The land will be used for constructing a super-speciality block and other infrastructure to enhance tertiary healthcare services, they added.
In another decision, the cabinet approved allotment of five acres of land each in Madhubani, Munger and Muzaffarpur districts to the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan on a token lease of Rs 1 for 30 years for setting up new Kendriya Vidyalayas, officials said. PTI PKD SOM
