Guwahati, Jul 14 (PTI) Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Tuesday felicitated the state’s medal-winning para-athletes in recognition of their exceptional performances at various national and international competitions. He commended their resilience, dedication and indomitable spirit, describing them as role models who have brought pride to Assam through their achievements. The athletes honoured were Anishmita Konwar, Ababil Ali, Yesmina Khatun, Surja Saikia, Kutup Ali and Narzima Sulana. During the interaction with the para-athletes, the governor appreciated Konwar for winning gold medals at the Asian Youth Para Games 2025 in Dubai and the National Para Athletics Championships. He congratulated Ababil Ali for securing a silver medal at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix Championships, Khatun and Saikia for winning gold medals at the National Para Swimming Championships 2026, and Kutup Ali for clinching the gold medal in the long jump event at the National Para Athletics Championships 2026. Acharya said that their achievements reflect the immense potential of Assam's para sports community and expressed hope that their success would inspire more young people to pursue sports with determination and confidence. He also appreciated the efforts of the coaches and support staff in nurturing sporting talent and extended his best wishes to the athletes for their future competitions.
