Jaipur, Jul 8 (PTI) A delegation of the ABVP on Wednesday met Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister and Higher Education Minister Prem Chand Bairwa and submitted a memorandum seeking various measures to strengthen higher education in the state. The delegation, led by ABVP national secretary Harshit Nanoma, urged the government to establish a state-level academic monitoring mechanism for effective implementation of the National Education Policy 2020, introduce a uniform academic calendar across the state, ensure transparency in the admission process and constitute the State Higher Education Commission at the earliest. The ABVP also sought the setting up of an independent regulatory body to monitor the quality, fee structure and administrative transparency of private universities. It demanded early implementation of the state research fellowship scheme announced earlier by the government. The organisation called for the resumption of students' union elections from the next academic session through a transparent and time-bound process after a gap of three academic sessions. Among its other demands, the ABVP sought early recruitment to vacant teaching and non-teaching posts in universities and colleges, preparation of a long-term roadmap to strengthen the financial position and infrastructure of universities, and a special development package for state-funded universities.
