New Delhi, Jul 7 (PTI) Undeterred by the heavy rain in Delhi, the five All India Students' Association members carried on their indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar on Tuesday along with the ongoing agitation by the CJP at the protest site.
The students are staging the strike in support of the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) protest, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged examination irregularities.
Speaking to PTI, Neha said the students had no fixed deadline for ending their hunger strike.
"We do not have a definite deadline for how long we want to continue our hunger strike. The idea was to strengthen and push this movement further. We will continue until Pradhan resigns," she said.
Neha said six students had initially begun the indefinite hunger strike, but one of them had to withdraw after falling ill.
The CJP's protest at Jantar Mantar entered its 18th day on Tuesday, while activist Sonam Wangchuk completed the tenth day of his indefinite hunger strike.
In a post on X, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke claimed Wangchuk had lost more than six kilograms since beginning his fast and that his blood pressure remained "quite low".
Earlier in the day, the Delhi High Court had ordered the restoration of the CJP's original X handle, which had been withheld in India in May.
Reacting to the order, Dipke described it as "a big win" for the CJP, the movement, free speech and digital rights.
The CJP launched its protest on June 20 over alleged irregularities in the country's examination system. The agitation has since received support from several political leaders, activists and civil society groups. PTI AHD PRK
